Online Auction!
The ANARE Club was delighted to offer members and supporters the opportunity to bid on a further selection of special items in support of our 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner.
Our previous online auction — flights generously donated by Antarctica Flights, a Gold Sponsor of the ANARE Club’s 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner — has been won, and our successful bidder will soon be taking to the skies over Antarctica.
Next we had three more outstanding auction items on offer: two premium outdoor products generously donated by MONT Adventure Equipment, another of our Gold Sponsors, and a very special 1/3-scale replica of RSV Nuyina’s ship’s bell, handcrafted by Olds Engineering and ready to find a new home with just the right Antarctic or maritime collector.
Successful bids helped support the ANARE Club’s 75th Anniversary celebrations.

About the Replica Nuyina Bell
About this item
1/3 Scale Replica RSV Nuyina Ship’s Bell
A unique piece of Australian Antarctic history.
Offered for auction is a beautifully crafted one-third scale replica of the ship’s bell of RSV Nuyina — Australia’s Antarctic research and resupply vessel and the flagship of the Australian Antarctic Program.
This is no mass-produced souvenir. The bell has been hand cast in Queensland by Olds Engineering, using traditional gun metal, fitted with a hand-turned hardwood handle, and individually hand engraved. It was produced to commemorate both RSV Nuyina and the 75th anniversary of the ANARE Club.
For Antarctic expeditioners, maritime enthusiasts, collectors and supporters of Australia’s Antarctic program, this is a genuinely distinctive piece with a direct connection to Australia’s modern Antarctic story.
Features and specifications
- 1/3 scale replica of RSV Nuyina’s bell
- Hand cast by Olds Engineering, Maryborough, Queensland
- Constructed from Gun Metal #1 — 88% copper, 10% tin and 2% zinc
- Hand-turned hardwood handle

- Reverse engraving: ANARE Club, 75 years, 1951–2026

A very special collector’s item
The appeal of these bells has already been demonstrated. A sister bell offered by the ANARE Club Queensland Branch as a Midwinter raffle prize generated exceptional interest, with one expeditioner purchasing almost $600 worth of tickets in the hope of winning it.
This auction therefore represents a rare opportunity to secure this replica for yourself.
Whether you have sailed on Nuyina, worked in the Australian Antarctic Program, spent a season south, or simply have a passion for Australia’s Antarctic heritage, this is a piece that deserves pride of place.
Hand crafted. Individually engraved. Distinctively Antarctic.
